246,000 people search for the term ‘make money online’ every single month.
74,000 search for make money on youtube.
That’s a lot of people looking for ways to make money on the internet.
Despite YouTube being the second largest search engine online, it’s my opinion that almost all the information on YouTube is smoke and mirrors.
The only folk getting rich off of the videos on the platform are the ones making the videos.
In this article I’m going to show it to you exactly what I mean and reveal why most of the videos on YouTube that tell you how to make money do the exact opposite and not make you any money.

Human Weakness?
Because we’re fallible, we’re drawn to the shortcuts, tricks, and hacks rather than the solid methods.
Buzzwords like “viral,” “autopilot,” and “push button riches” have a way of enticing us all.
However, deep down, we know this stuff isn’t true.
This doesn’t stop product designers and YouTube creators from constantly launching new products and making videos that promise a “quick fix”.
Choosing the simple and quick option over the difficult and slow one is difficult.
But you must resist if you can and think about things with a clear head.
How This Translates to YouTube?
If you go to YouTube now and search for things such as how to make money online you’ll be presented with tons of videos.
Most of which get a lot of views and have a huge followings.
The trouble is that most (not all of course) of the information presented is rubbish, even if the production value of the videos is high.
And in your desire to grow a YouTube channel and following, you’ll be tempted to do the same.
As a Creator, What Do You Want ?
You have to make a decision early on as to how you want to utilize YouTube.
Some people want to build a huge Channel with a huge following lots of subscribers and make money through monetization.

Other people use YouTube to build a targeted email list.
The best way to do this is to focus on informational keywords.
From there, direct people to a congruent opt-in
Another way that you can use YouTube is to recommend products a make a video commissions or even sell your item products and services.
All of these methods work and they’re completely fine.
Chanels That Do This?
I’m going to show you some YouTube channels in the make money online niche and show you that a lot of the information presented is just false.
So the image below is from the YouTube analytics section of my personal YouTube channel.
I’m going to look for other channels that my audience watches.

Now all of this is just my opinion and please do your own research to come to your own conclusions but let’s go and check out one of these channels.
If we go to the video section, we can see that there is a common theme just by looking at the titles and thumbnails.

According to this content creator, there are tons of different ways to make money online by doing things such simple things as pushing buttons or even doing nothing.
Common sense of the viewer seems to go out of the window.
If any of the things that is content creator was explaining with true then why wouldn’t this person be doing it instead of making videos?
And with all the wild income possibilities, the lesser income strategies are rendered obsolete.
Why make $50 per day when another video claims you can make $200 per day.
While it’s silly when you think about it, people are generally naive or they want to believe things even though common sense tells you that they can’t be true.
Another Example

Some of these claims are outrageous.
$1,563 per day passively
$780.50 every day
Again, if these are true, then two questions.
a) Why is this person making videos as opposed to doing it?
b) Why would anyone want to make $780.50 every day when allegedly they can make $1,563 per day passively?
So Why Do These Creators Create Such Videos?

It’s my personal opinion that people make these kind of videos because they know that these are the videos that people will click on and watch.
Effort is put into the thumbnail, the title and video production value alone.
And then ethics and morals fly out of the window
If these content creator made videos on:
- How to research their perfect customer
- Analyzing data
- How to set up tracking for Bing Ads
They would not nearly as many views and therefore nowhere near as much Adsense commission.
So many individuals want to have a six-figure company by tomorrow.

And the only way they know how to acquire one is to invent something from nothing and sell it as the finest of the best.
Add a clickbait thumbnail and claim that pressing a button will earn you money.
Bingo!
It is a big success on YouTube.
There’s only one little problem…
They succeed…but at your expense!
It was never going to work to begin with.
So the cycle repeats until either they or you come to their senses and stop it.
Do you aspire to be just like these people?
What You Should Do Instead
Here’s what I’d suggest.
Build a tiny AUDIENCE first, then focus on delivering as much value as possible.

Have a mentality of serving.
Simple!
People value being treated with respect rather than as if they were dollar signs.
If you really want to have a clickbait thumbnail, at least make sure that the video DELIVERS on the promise.
Thanks for watching and what do you think?
Is there a lot of smoke and mirrors on YouTube?
Or do you think it’s fine to create videos that get the click but offer no real help?
